Liederkranz 150th Kickoff Party
2020 marks the Grand Island Liederkranz's 150th Anniversary. Kick off the yearlong celebration! All 750 members and the public are invited to a Kick-off Ceremony featuring special guest Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley. Doors open at 3:30pm, and the ceremony begins at 4:00. Following the ceremony, take a free guided tour to learn about the Club and explore the historic building. The Members' Club downstairs will be open following the ceremony to the public with full access to the beautiful Ratskellar bar, retro bowling alley, and the dining room. In November 1870 Grand Island's early leaders established the Liederkranz as a social club in which its members shared a love for the arts, singing, and their common German culture. Grand Island's history and the Liederkranz are interwoven. Today's diverse membership enjoys and organizes a variety of social activities; celebrates the region's German heritage; supports the arts; and works to preserve, restore and improve its historic building.

GILT: The Kitchen Witches
Grand Island Little Theatre announces the winter show for the 2019-2020 season, “The Kitchen Witches”, a comedy by Caroline Smith. Production dates are February 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 7:30PM and February 9 and 16 at 2PM at College Park Auditorium, 3180 West US Highway 34, Grand Island.
Isobel Lomax and Dolly Biddle are two “mature” cable-access cooking show hostesses who have hated each other for thirty years, every since Larry Biddle dated one and married the other. When circumstances put them together on a TV show called “The Kitchen Witches”, the insults are flung harder than the food! The show becomes a ratings smash as Dolly and Isobel top both Martha Stewart and Jerry Springer.
Cast members are Phyllis Haverkamp as Dolly Biddle, Brendan Nierman as Stephen Biddle, Julie Miller as Isobel Lomax and Greg Sallans as Rob, the Camera Guy.
Coree Sattley and Steven Gobel are CoDirectors, Producer is Jeannee Mueller Fossberg. For show information, call Fossberg at 308-379-2015.
Wear your favorite cooking attire....kitchen aprons, grilling aprons, hats, etc. The audience will choose the most unique at intermission and prizes will be awarded.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students 12 and under, and can be purchased at Ace Hardware and Garden Center, Hy-Vee, or by calling the Grand Island Little Theatre box office at 308-382-2586, or at the door.
